I’m not familiar with blogging. I have personally never spent too much time reading comments and the thoughts of others unless is was something I would read on some various news site or paper. To do this first blog it was necessary for me to search the internet for a blog site. Searching a subject that interests me, I discovered a blogging site for writers. One Million Monkeys Typing, (http://www.1000000monkeys.com/) caught my attention simply by its title. I liked the concept of what the site does. Writers post pieces of stories, “snippets” as referred by the site while other writers continue the story in any direction they’d like within a certain word length. Users and authors can also comment and rate each others work. The best rated stories become the easily available to be read, and as the site is titled, “only the strongest stories survive.”
I have always had an interest in creative writing, although decided on the Journalism route instead when coming to ASU. I figured I couldn’t do much with an English degree and within Journalism I would at last be learning an aspect of writing I was unfamiliar with, as well as have the potential to get a job that wasn’t a highschool teacher. One Million Monkeys Typing seems to hold the same feel and motivation in writing I use to feel like pursueing. In this sense, I love it and in fact hope to join it in the near future.
